Questions we get

Frequently Asked

What does a guided cow elk hunt cost?

Cow elk hunts are $3,000 per hunter. Two hunter groups hunt two days with one guide. Four hunter groups hunt four days with two guides. Either way the ratio stays at two hunters to one guide.

Do I bring my own rifle for the elk hunt?

No. We provide the rifle for every cow elk hunt, and we hunt with suppressed rifles. Please leave your own rifle at home. Just bring your license, tags, good boots and coolers big enough for elk quarters.

Do you take solo hunters?

Yes. Solo hunters are welcome and are typically paired with another hunter or scheduled based on availability. Give us a call and we will work out where you fit.

How physical are the elk hunts?

Hunts run on a mix of timbered ground and agricultural fields, and we hunt elk moving into or out of feeding areas. The hunts are active but they do not require extreme physical conditioning.

Where do hunters stay?

Lodging is not included. Most hunters stay in or near Baker City, which is a short drive from the ground we hunt.

What is included in an elk hunt?

Private land access, professional guiding, field dressing assistance, cooler storage for your meat, and lunch or dinner depending on hunt timing. Oregon licenses and tags, lodging, meat processing and gratuities are not included.

Are the bird hunts on planted birds?

No. These are wild chukar and quail on a mix of private ground and proven public access. Bird numbers and daily success vary with weather, habitat conditions and bird movement, as they should on a wild bird hunt.

What does an upland hunt cost?

A two day guided upland hunt is $800 per hunter. That covers two full days of hunting, a professional guide, trained bird dogs and field transportation during the hunt. Licenses, ammunition, lodging and gratuities are not included.

Do I need to bring a dog?

No. We hunt over our own trained dogs. The dog work is a large part of why these hunts are worth doing.

What licenses do I need?

Oregon hunting licenses and tags are the hunter's responsibility and are not included in the hunt price. Requirements change by season and residency, so check current Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife regulations before you book.

How far in advance should I book?

Availability is limited by private land access and small group sizes, so earlier is better. Contact us to talk through this season's openings.

Do you offer anything beyond cow elk and upland birds?

Occasionally, depending on the season and land access. Those opportunities are limited, are not regularly offered, and are handled by inquiry only. Contact us for details.

Can you help with meat processing?

Meat processing is not included, but we handle field dressing assistance and cooler storage so your meat is cared for properly from the field to the truck.
